Ten on Tuesday

Ten on Tuesday (103)

This week’s questions were provided by Amanda at Amanda Tries. Her sister is pregnant so she had several baby related questions, and then some filler questions!
If you have a set of questions, send them Chelsea's way: chelsea(at)rootsandrings(dot)com
1. What is the worst compliment you have ever received?
I honesty have no idea.
2. Did you/would you tell everyone the name of your baby before they were born, keep it a secret, or not choose until after they were born?
Well, with Julianna we didn't tell anyone our name until she was born.  We will probably do that with the next baby also.  That way we avoid everyone else's opinions.
3. What is your favorite candle smell?
Cinnamon Apple
4. What is the best birthday/Christmas gift you received when you were pregnant or the best birthday/Christmas gift you gave a pregnant person that was really appreciated?
I wasn't pregnant during my birthday and I don't remember getting anything special for Christmas that was baby related.  A pedicure would have been great.  Some people like the prenatal massages also.  Me, not so much.  I'm weird about massages.  I gave my best friend a 'mom necklace' when her daughter was born.  It had her daughters name and birthstone on it.  She loved it.  I highly recommend that.
5. Who was your favorite teacher?
Easy.  My favorite teacher was Mr. Obst in HS.  He was my Algebra teacher.  He went above and beyond when it came to helping me understand math.  He was great.
6. What is the best game/activity you have ever played at a baby shower?
I've never played a particularly fun shower game.  Most people loose interest half way through.
7. What was your major in college and did you end up using it in your career?
I majored in Elementary Education.  My job for the last six years was in sales.  So, no not really.  It does come in handy when teaching my daughter though.
8. What is a beauty product you swear by?
Clinique face wash.
9. What is the kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you?
Besides hold doors open?  I really don't know.  I'm brain dead today.
10. If you could recommend one new baby necessity, what would it be?
I used the baby bouncy seat religiously.  If I needed to take a shower I would stick Jules in there and bring it in the bathroom with me.  If I had to cook dinner or god forbid eat...same deal.  She didn't like the swing we had so the bouncer was a life saver for me.

Butterhof Farm

Yesterday we visited Butterhof's Farm in Egg Harbor, NJ.  We went through a corn stalk maze and then went on a hayride to pick pumpkins from the pumpkin patch.  Jules had a blast!  I am so happy with how the pictures turned out.

What She Said

This week her favorite phrase is "Right Mommy?"  It's pretty cute.

Wordless Wednesday-Surprise!

I thought I'd link up with Jenni over at www.jennifromtheblog.com this week.  I love her blog and read it on the regular but have never actually participated in one of her Wordless Wednesdays until now.  Enjoy.

This past weekend we had a surprise party for my mother-in-law.  The party was at my BIL's house and we (all 4 siblings + their significant others) put a LOT of work into it.  Even cooked everything with the exception of the cake.  I think she was legitimately surprised!

Isn't that flower pot the cutest?!  I saw it on Pinterest and had to make it.  The kids loved it.  I also made the sugar cookie bars right next to the lollipops from a recipe I found on Pinterest.  We hired Dan Barry as our entertainer.  My MIL loves him and went to hear him sing every single week this summer down at the Cape May Lewis Ferry.  The party was a success!

Ten on Tuesday

Ten on Tuesday (102)

1. You’re packing for a week long vacation, do you pack ahead of time or wait until the last possible minute to pack?
I'm a list maker.  I would start a list a week prior to departure.  That way I could buy any odds and ends I may need to bring along.  Packing would begin two days before departure and I would finish up the night before.
2. Are you a light or heavy packer?
I would say I'm a heavy packer.  I always have things at the end of a vacation that I never wore or even needed.  BUT you just never know...especially with children.
3. What are your favorite road trip snacks?
Water, granola bars, goldfish, fruit & juice for Jules and probably soda for Chad.
4. Do you take any reading material along?
Always.  I don't read nearly as much as I did prior to Jules but I always bring my Nook whenever we go on vacation.  It's a must.
5. Do you prefer to drive or fly to your vacation destination?
FLY.  For the love of God Fly.  Road tripping with my husband & child is just not fun at all.  Sorry guys but its not.  Flying is worth every penny.
6. What is your favorite time of the year to take your vacation?
The only time I don't like to travel is during the holidays.  Airports and popular vacation destinations are just over-crowded and way more expensive.
7. Where is your favorite place to vacation?
I love vacations.  My favorite vacation so far...was St. Lucia.  We stayed at a Sandals All Inclusive and it was amazing.  The people were so friendly and the food was awesome!  I probably gained 10lbs on that trip no lie.
8. You are vacationing in the mountains, what is your favorite thing to do while there?
Hmm...not ski!  Sit in a hot tub maybe.
9. You are at the beach for your vacation,  do you like to take it easy on the beach or play all day in the water?
I like to relax and Chad likes to play in the water.  Best of both worlds.  We both like swim-up bars.  ;)
10. While your on vacation do you prefer to eat out every night or cook some of your own meals?
Eating out can get expensive if you are not at an all-inclusive vacation spot.  If it's all-inclusive I am NOT cooking anything.  If we are on vacation though...I'd say we would eat out most of the time.  Who wants to cook while on vacation?  Not this girl.

Happy Tuesday!

What She Said - Wednesday

We had a stack of cash on the kitchen table waiting to be deposited into the bank.  We rent out our first home and the tenants always pay cash.  Jules saw the money and asked if it was for her piggy bank.  I told her no, we had to put that money in Mommy & Daddy's bank.  Why Mommy?  Don't think she is old enough to understand mortgages just yet.

Jules LOVES yogurt.  She eats it at least once a day but usually 2-3 cups in one sitting.  After finishing off two cups of yogurt this morning she said "I a good girl right?"  I told her yes, I was happy she didn't make a complete mess with her yogurt this time.  She then said "Daddy is a good boy too.  He goes to work."  LOL

Pumpkin Picking with Peyton

Ten on Tuesday

All about Pasta
1. Red Sauce or White Sauce?
I love cream sauces but I rarely have them.  We stick to red mostly.
2. Do you prefer pasta you can twirl or stab?
I love angel hair pasta.  Nothing better than Shrimp Scampi over angel hair pasta.  YUM.  Chad doesn't like angel hair so I rarely make it.  He will eat regular spaghetti but prefers a penne pasta.  Gotta keep the husbands happy.
3. Baked or boiled?
Boiled.
4. Do you like meat in your sauce or do you kick it vegetarian style?
I like a meat sauce.
5. Where have you had your very best pasta ever?
I make a bacon spinach pasta that is to die for.  Seriously, bacon & pasta.  My two favorite foods.  Find recipe here.  Your welcome.
6. What is your favorite pasta dish?
I love all pasta.  One of my favorite dishes besides the one I just discussed in #5 is Shrimp Scampi over angel hair pasta.
7. Do you serve meatballs when you make spaghetti or just do a meat sauce?
Yes, meatballs & meat sauce.
8. Why type (rice, whole wheat, egg, etc) of noodles do you use?
I don't discriminate.  I love all pasta.  If I can slip it past my husband without him knowing I do use whole wheat.
9. What type of meats or vegetables do you put in your sauce?
I guess I should confess that I don't make homemade sauce.  I'm Italian, yes.  I'm also lazy.  I usually buy a meat sauce or one with garlic, onion & basil.
10. Do you make a “Sunday gravy” to use throughout the week or do you just open a jar of whatever and heat it up? (No judgment on this one!)
Nope, see #9.  I buy whats on sale.

What She Said Wednesday

This weeks its more like What She Sung.  We went shopping at the AC Walk yesterday.  One of the last stores we hit was Old Navy.  Great BOGO (buy one get one mom) on all sweaters.  Anyway we were standing in line waiting to pay and Jules was checking out all the little toys they have along the check-out line.  One of the toys she found was a plastic "Magic Mic".  As soon as she picked it up she put it right to her mouth and started signing "You are my Sunshine" followed by "Twinkle Twinkle" over and over again.  She is very theatrical.  When she would finish the song she would look at me and say "Clap Mommy Clap".  So adorable.  She put on quite a show for everyone in line.

Ten on Tuesday

This is the 100th week of Ten on Tuesday!  Crazy.
1. How do you take your coffee?
Strong.  A little milk and sugar only.  I never ever use half & half or creamer.  I'll drink it black before using either of those.  Yuck.
2. Do you prefer soft or crispy chocolate chip cookies?
I am not a big fan of chocolate chip cookies but if I had to choose it would hands down be soft cookies.
3. Do you wear a belt everyday?
Nope, never.
4. What is your favorite color combination?
I am so plain.  I like to wear different shades of the same color.  Browns are my favorite.
5. Do you like sour candy?
I LOVE it.
6. How often do you do laundry?
I typically try to do at least one load a day otherwise it piles up.
7. Did you ever wear braces?
Yes.  I had to wear them for 2 years.  I think I wore them my freshman & sophmore year of high school.
8. Are you good at Roman Numerals?
I first read this as:  Are you good at Raman Noodles?  LOL I haven't finished drinking my first cup of coffee yet.  Anyway the answer to the actual question would be not really.  I know the basics.
9. What is your favorite form of social media?
My favorite would be facebook I guess (although I'm getting bored with it lately) but I really enjoy reading blogs and my new obsession is Pinterest.  Seriously, its awesome!  I don't think its considered a 'social media' though.
10. How do you feel about chin dimples?
Adorable.

Roxy

I couldn't not post this one from this morning.

My Little Dancer

Julianna has been dancing now for a month and she loves it.  I was able to snap a few pictures of her this morning before dropping her off at class.  Moms and Dads aren't permitted to stay during class so I have to take pics before class.
